ARX MSX-32 Mic Splitters run a ‘flawless’ race at the Melbourne Cup

MSX32 Flemington rackMelbourne, Australia, November 25th 2019:  Two ARX MSX-32 Mic/Line Splitters were recently specified by Melbourne based audio contractor Intavent to provide reliable and agile broadcast mic splits for the broadcast box at the world-renowned Flemington Racecourse.  The ARX MSX-32’s were required to be installed in time for the annual Spring Racing Carnival – of which the Melbourne Cup is the jewel in the crown – and where the eyes and ears of the horse racing world would be focussed.

Australians refer to the Melbourne Cup as the race that stops a nation. In fact, its reach extends well beyond Australian shores to Europe, USA, South Africa, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and beyond. For a little over 2 minutes and 15 seconds, Flemington’s race caller Matt Hill has the attention of the entire global racing fraternity via a myriad of viewing platforms extending far beyond the national TV coverage.

The first link of the audio signal chain is a vital one and the Victoria Racing Club (owners and operators of Flemington racecourse) chose the two ARX MSX-32 to provide the primary feeds to send Hills race call around the racetrack, around the country and around the world.

Gary Ashmore, owner of Intavent commented “The ARX MSX32’s performed flawlessly, and we look forward to many more Melbourne Cup race calls using ARX technology”

The MSX-32s were supplied to Intavent by The Resource Corp, ARX’s distributor in Australia.

About the ARX MSX-32:

As an active microphone splitter, the MSX-32 offers superb audio quality, noise figures comparable to the best microphone inputs and increased resistance to RFI.  The MSX-32 consists of 8 channels of actively buffered ultra-low noise Microphone/Line Splitter.  Each of these channels has two transformer balanced splits on the front panel and two electronically balanced outputs on the rear panel for Main and Monitor that can be transformer balanced.  Each channel has a -20dB pad switch plus silently switchable 48V Phantom Power with indicator LED.  A PFL switch and 6 LED metering enables each channel to be checked with headphones for signal monitoring and for line tracing when troubleshooting.
