Good day, all, and thank you for being with us today for this issue of rAVe [House of Worship]. I’m writing fresh off a trip from New Orleans, where I was lucky to experience the joy that is Mardi Gras. (Don’t worry; we kept it PG and attended the family-friendly parades in the neighborhoods of NOLA rather than in the Quarter.) It’s funny — with all the amazing technological advancements in the AV world that we live and breathe every day, it’s sometimes great to take a step back and enjoy some good old-fashioned fun, no technology needed. At the parades, I was amazed by some of the most creative and imaginative works I’d seen in a long time — unreal costumes and decor, a crew of gentlemen trailing down the parade route in motorized armchairs (if you don’t believe me, check image 3 in this post), and some of the most beautiful hand-painted floats you’ve ever seen, straight from people’s imaginations.
This week, Dr. Frederick Ampel reminds us of the golden rules of sound system implementation and design, while Scott Tiner gives us a great piece on effectively reaching new customers. We also get some HOW-related updates out of ISE 2020: L-Acoustics launches its first install-specific amplified controller; Studio Technologies introduces what it’s calling StudioComm Dante, a multichannel monitoring system; and Martin Audio adds new in-ceiling and pendant speakers to its ADORN Series. Also, two more features: 1) A Church Production article featuring a d&b audiotechnik job for the Church at the Mill in Spartanburg, South Carolina. 2) A case for attending AVI LIVE and why you should go. (Hint: Gary is the keynote speaker! Actually, that’s not really a hint, is it?)
Enjoy reading.
