My family is planning a short vacation to “somewhere warm” the last week of December. We, like many other families with children in the millennial generation, have a family group chat in which we discuss anything from one, our dog or two, this year’s family vacation. Family group chats are not unified or collaborative — in fact, if I had $1 for each time I thought, “I wish I could share my screen,” or “Can you just notate what you are referring to with the pen?”, I could pay for the entire vacation itself.
I like to remind my family members quite regularly the value I bring to our family: I work in the audiovisual space. So, we now have pre-arranged Zoom calls to discuss our travel logistics, entertainment ideas and how much time we will spend at the beach. You wouldn’t believe the increase in productivity and the excitement associated with my mom being able to see our faces from wherever we are in the world. Actually, you can believe it because you, too, work in the audiovisual space.
Enjoy the issue!
