“You can’t use your current network for AV-over-IP,” says Justin Kennington. “You need a non-blocking network and, despite what IT will tell you, your current network is blocked.”
Traditional IT networks weren’t built for AV-over-IP. They were built with the capability to send basic signals over the network for (1) access to the internet, (2) inter-communication between devices like printers and (3) some other things that are just water under the bridge to this argument.
