I came across an Angel City Chorale performance of “This is Me” from “The Greatest Showman” the other day on YouTube. You can see it
here. The choir performed live on America’s Got Talent.
It really is a good performance. But you, as I did, may notice that the mic’ing of the choir is… poor. Even in the beginning of the song, you barely hear the voices that are found directly behind the mics. The lower base lines (performed by the men singing in the back of the choir) can barely be heard.
Now, I understand that this is a critical perspective. But I think it highlights the value of the work of integrators/end users that work in the house of worship space. Creating powerful worship experiences hardly stops or begins with AV — it is a critical part.
So kudos, friends. Enjoy the song and the issue!
