We’re nearing the week’s end, but things are just heating up. Though it’s fall, so things should actually be cooling down. Though somehow it is heating up in NC again, and it’s back to tank-top and shorts weather. I’d already transitioned over to hot coffee, and now I’m wondering if I should go back to iced. I don’t know what’s happening. Temperatures are changing, rhetorically.
Here’s what we bring you this week:
- Columns: Leonard Suskin’s column on — yes — the Amish and Luddites brings AV technologists two major takeaways: Even those who resist will embrace technology if it fits, and we need to accommodate many types of audiences. Lots of great bits and butter-churning metaphors in this story; go check it out.
- More columns: Three more column features — from Scott Tiner, Gary Kayye and Futuresource Consulting — offering topics around Zoom, UCC and esports.
- Product news: Next up, there’s no shortage of product news this week. Seriously. Too much to recap here, so moving along.
- Industry news: If you’ve ever thought, “Nothing to see here” in this section, you won’t today. See the AV tea below — like how HDBaseT is about to go AV-as-a-Service and “into the cloud,” plus a lineup from the DPAA’s coming-soon Video Everywhere Summit with some ridiculously prominent speakers.
- Case studies: Two this week, one from Martin Audio and another from Nureva. Find them below.
That’s my Type A–organized introductory recap for you this week, and I hope it helps you navigate this packed issue. Will see ya next time.
