Happy end of the week, #AVtweeps! Can you believe we’re already preparing for #ISE2020? Just kidding, we know you can totally believe that. It’s always good to be prepared. And there’s a lot to prepare for (hello biggest pro AV show EVER). So, to make life a little easier for you (and for us), we made a comprehensive list of every booth that will be there this year. Check it out below and keep a lookout for more ISE content coming your way soon.
In terms of columns we have for you today, Scott Tiner writes about the pros and cons of social media in our industry. Chris Evans looks into whether smartphones have a place in professional video production. Plus, our very own Sara Abrons attended AVEC a few weeks ago, and she shares her thoughts and exclusive interviews with AVIXA executives.
In other news, Christie extended the company’s flat panel LCD lineup with three different options. Semtech released a new AVP chipset that removes the need to use FPGA devices (yay for saving money!) Plus, new Epson BrightLink interactive laser displays allow users to show content from up to four devices simultaneously. And, Barco launched a 3D project visualization system they call Canvas.
Have a great weekend, and to our fellow Northern Hemisphere readers, stay warm!
Like so many industries, the AV industry has a robust and valuable community in the social media sphere. Many of us have dozens, if not hundreds of contacts and "friends" that we know only via social media. While we have opportunities to catch up and meet during industry events, including the always popular tweet-ups, the majority of our interaction is virtual.
Why actively choose to use a smartphone? In the simplest terms, mobile acquisition offers three fundamental advantages: these devices are compact, discrete and connected. The compact nature of a smartphone is immediately obvious and is precisely the reason they have quickly eroded the consumer point and shoot fixed lens camera market to become the most convenient everyday acquisition device.
This month I attended AVEC 2019 in New Orleans — that's AVIXA's AV Executive Conference, held annually in locations around the U.S. In the past, AVEC has been focused mostly on high-level business and management topics, but this one included panels with industry experts on digital signage, collaboration and higher education.
