Episode 24: Women of Technology and Intrigue |
Welcome to the next installment of the show known for tech, humor and bacon, and this one truly shines. On this episode we have three great women, each one notable in their realm of business and industry. We decided to forego the normal show format (this show has a format?) and spend most of it talking with them, gaining great insights and perspectives. In fact, there is some “breaking news” on this one as well so stick around, it gets greater as it goes – and you heard it here first!
Join Host Christa (@AVChrista) Bender and the Crew – Corey (@Cbmoss) Moss, Chuck (@madsoundguy) Espinoza, Hope (@BeerAndPie) Roth, Johnny (@JMOTA3) Mota, and Rich (@RichardPrevete) Prevete as they welcome:
- Sam Horn (@SamHornIntrigue) with The Intrigue Agency and Author, Public Speaker
- Carol Campbell (@CarolCampbellTI) with NAPCO and Founder of Women in CE

Episode 23: Surprise! It’s a Birthday Show (Part One) |
Months in the making (OK days), a birthday episode was put together and surprise guests were invited. One of the show’s co-hosts had a birthday on the day of this show’s recording and three guests arrived, all identities unknown to him. Just consider this the AV/IT/IoT (Technology!) “This Is Your Life” show.
Join Host Christa (@AVChrista) Bender and the Crew – Corey (@Cbmoss) Moss, Chuck (@madsoundguy) Espinoza, Stacy (@Vaddio_Stacy) Kringlen, Hope (@BeerAndPie) Roth, Johnny (@JMOTA3) Mota, and Rich (@RichardPrevete) Prevete as they welcome their first two guests:
- The Bradford Benn (@BradfordBenn) of Harman International (props and all)
- Gina Sansivero (@GinaSans) of FSR, Inc.

Episode 22: The Main Event |
The live event is something that you may classify as a chance to see something special take place, be it a concert, a major speech or a presentation, and while you the attendee look forward to getting your “money’s worth” it’s the people who work behind the scenes who are the ones depended upon to make it all really happen. A glitch, while in the tech world just represents a minor occurrence, in this business it can spell the difference between success and well, possibly not. Those professionals that work the long hours, setting up the equipment, running the cables, managing the details and basically digging in to create a successful outcome for everyone involved deserve nothing short of great accolades for what they do in the live events industry. And on this show we bring that discussion – with the Mad Sound Guy leading the way.
Join Host Christa (@AVChrista) Bender and the Crew – Corey (@Cbmoss) Moss, Chuck (@madsoundguy) Espinoza, Stacy (@Vaddio_Stacy) Kringlen, Johnny (@JMOTA3) Mota, and Rich (@RichardPrevete) Prevete as they welcome:
- Alexis La Broi (@AlexisLaBroi) with Avitecture
- Bennett (Ben) Warner with Applied Video Technology
- Hope Roth, Jane Johnson and Gina Sansivero (on a call in!)

Episode 21: We Dig Up the “Lost” Episode (19) |
Technology. If we all lived in a perfect world (like Johnny), every single installation would go like clockwork, clients would all be happy, sales and customer service people would always go to work whistling with a smile (right Stacy?) and life would be one big selfie party.
And then reality sets in – technology challenges us every day, integrations don’t all go perfectly (those 7PM emergency two hour service visits still exist), sales and customer service people have to jump through hoops at times to keep those end users happy (right Stacy?), and life is a come home at the end of the day and make a beeline right to the refrigerator to grab a beer (wait, that’s a good thing isn’t it?).
Wi-Fi can be described as strong, medium or $^&#@*!. One of our Crew (umm, Jeremy) was in a hotel – yeah, no one ever has problems dealing with hotel WiFi – and unfortunately one of the great segments in the show was “compromised” by that hotel’s WiFi (our lawyer sent a threatening letter). So a decision was made to put this one aside and do another show – Episode 20, to address that subject of millennials, and more.
The Episode 19 that you listened to with George Fournier of FSR (who returned to do it again – thanks George!) was recorded the next day and we did a few different things in that podcast.
On this show, along with George we welcome:
- Joel Rollins (@JoelRollinsAV) with Everett Hall Associates and a long time rAVe-ite (host of The WEEK)

| For all you REGULAR listeners of rAVe Radio out there, hopefully you enjoyed another opinion-packed issue! For those of you NEW to rAVe, you just read how we are – we are 100 percent opinionated. We not only report the news and new product stories of the ProAV and HomeAV industries, but we stuff the articles full of our opinions. That may include (but is not limited to) whether or not the product is even worth looking at, challenging the manufacturers on their specifications, calling a marketing-spec bluff and suggesting ways integrators market their products better. But, one thing is for sure, we are NOT a trade publication that gets paid for running editorial or product stories. Traditional trade publications get paid to run product stories – that’s why you see what you see in most of the pubs out there. We are different: we run what we want to run and NO ONE is going to pay us to write or say anything good (or bad). To send me feedback, don’t reply to this newsletter. Instead, write directly to me at gary@ravepubs.com or for editorial ideas, Editor-in-Chief Sara Abrons at sara@ravepubs.com. A little about me: I graduated from Journalism School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (where I am adjunct faculty). I’ve been in the AV industry since 1987 where I started with Extron and eventually moved to AMX. So, I guess I am an industry veteran (although I don’t think I am that old). I have been an opinionated columnist for a number of industry publications and in the late 1990s I started the widely read KNews eNewsletter (the first in the AV market) and also created the model for and was co-founder of AV Avenue, which is now known as InfoComm IQ. rAVe [Publications] has been around since 2003, when we launched our original newsletter, rAVe ProAV Edition. Everything we publish is Opt-in – we spam NO ONE! rAVe ProAV Edition is our flagship ePublication with what we believe is a reach of virtually everyone in the ProAV market. rAVe HomeAV Edition, co-published with CEDIA and launched in June 2004, is, by far, the largest ePub in the HomeAV market. We added rAVe Rental [and Staging] in December 2007, rAVe ED [Education] in May 2008 and then rAVe DS [Digital Signage] in June 2009. We added rAVe GHGav [Green, Healthcare & Government AV] in August 2010 and rAVe HOW [House of Worship] in August 2012. rAVe Radio, our podcasts, were launched in 2012. You can subscribe to any of those publication or see ALL our archives by going to: https://www.ravepubs.com To read more about my background, our team and what we do, go to https://www.ravepubs.com Back to Top | Copyright 2015 – rAVe [Publications] – All rights reserved – All rights reserved.
