Episode 17: The UCC Show: Unified Communications and Contrarians |
Here at AV Power Up, when we get our hands on certain topics there are two things you can be certain of, one – that our crew and guests will bring you excellent tech discussion on the subjects and two — that it will be approached as seriously as useless swag handed out at trade shows (ok, useless to some). And as long as you survived being “facted to death” at that trade show – you’re ready for anything here. But when you have someone known as the Chief Contrarian of the industry on the same show as the Power Crew, it leads to a third — look out for that train!
Join host Christa (@AVChrista) Bender and the Crew: Corey (@Cbmoss) Moss, Chuck (@madsoundguy) Espinoza, Stacy (@Vaddio_Stacy) Kringlen, Johnny (@JMOTA3) Mota, Rich (@RichardPrevete) Prevete and Jeremy (@jeremy_caldera) Caldera as they welcome their guests:
- Simon Dudley (@simondudley) — CEO and Chief Contrarian at Excession Events
- Jordan Owens (@JFOwens) — VP of Architecture at Pexip

Episode 16: Pardon the Unexpected Delay, We Now Return You To This Show |
We have been required by rAVe management to let you know that we experienced a bit of a disruption (eh?) in the schedule at the beginning of the week, and while we fully expected to deliver that usual experience, a certain delay in production has caused us to actually cut some time off of this one. We always strive to bring you the best (and longest) possible product, however you’re just going to have to accept that we’ve brought you what we could at this time and you’ll just have to potentially wait for the rest. In fact, our guests have agreed to return at a later date to finish this thing, under protest of course. Then again, you may just be happy with what you’ll get here. Call marketing – we definitely need to put some good spin on this one…
Christa (@AVChrista) Bender and the Crew: Corey (@Cbmoss) Moss, Chuck (@madsoundguy) Espinoza, Hope (@BeerandPie) Roth, Johnny (@JMOTA3) Mota, Rich (@RichardPrevete) Prevete and Jeremy (@jeremy_caldera) Caldera as they welcome guests:
- Katye (McGregor) Bennett (@katyemcgregor) – CEO/Chief Strategist at KMB Communications
- Tim Bigoness (@tbigoness) – VP Sales & Marketing at D-Tools

Episode 15: Just None of Those Days… |
You know there are those days when you get up, go through your routine and pretty much have the day you expected. You get home and you say “that was a good day” and head right into relaxation mode. Well, for the producer of this show, this week he had none of those. First, a guest has to back out. Then a crew member has soccer mom responsibilities (big cheers for you and the team, Stacy!). Then another has to travel (see ya bright and early next week, Jeremy!). Then another, well let’s say after that – we had no hope (we had no Hope!). But, when you have a big enough crew, you still have enough great minds to drive a show — even if it does hit some potholes and lose a hubcap or two along the way…
Join host Christa (@AVChrista) Bender and the Crew: Corey (@Cbmoss) Moss, Chuck (@madsoundguy) Espinoza, Johnny (@JMOTA3) Mota and Rich (@RichardPrevete) Prevete as they welcome their guests:
- Josh Srago (@JSrago) – Manager of Audio Visual Engineering at ICS
- Adrian Boyd (@The_AV_CAD_Guy) – Who’s looking for new opps in AV design

Episode 14: We Let the Podcast Do the Talking |
Normally when you listen to a podcast, you expect a moderated flow of discussion throughout and the usual format that you’ve come to know. You have a host, guests, and sometimes seven other crew members (OK so we’re the only show of that kind) who like to get technical along with just shooting the breeze. With this one however, you press play and it seems to almost take off with a calculated mind of its own. Just call it a self-driving podcast steered by extremely engaging discussion as well as a good measure of humorous stuff (n’ things) thrown in as well. You do the listening, we’ll handle the rest.
Join host Christa (@AVChrista) Bender and the Crew: Corey (@Cbmoss) Moss, Chuck (@madsoundguy) Espinoza, Stacy (@Vaddio_Stacy) Kringlen, Hope (@BeerAndPie) Roth, Johnny (@JMOTA3) Mota, Rich (@RichardPrevete) Prevete and Jeremy (@jeremy_calder) Caldera as they welcome their guests:
- Julian Phillips – Executive VP at Whitlock, Board Director at the Global Presence Alliance (GPA) and Board Director at InfoComm International
- TJ Adams – Install DSP Product Manager at QSC Audio Products LLC

Well they do if they can see an actual picture of the podcast:

| For all you REGULAR listeners of rAVe Radio out there, hopefully you enjoyed another opinion-packed issue! For those of you NEW to rAVe, you just read how we are – we are 100 percent opinionated. We not only report the news and new product stories of the ProAV and HomeAV industries, but we stuff the articles full of our opinions. That may include (but is not limited to) whether or not the product is even worth looking at, challenging the manufacturers on their specifications, calling a marketing-spec bluff and suggesting ways integrators market their products better. But, one thing is for sure, we are NOT a trade publication that gets paid for running editorial or product stories. Traditional trade publications get paid to run product stories – that’s why you see what you see in most of the pubs out there. We are different: we run what we want to run and NO ONE is going to pay us to write or say anything good (or bad). To send me feedback, don’t reply to this newsletter. Instead, write directly to me at gary@ravepubs.com or for editorial ideas, Editor-in-Chief Sara Abrons at sara@ravepubs.com. A little about me: I graduated from Journalism School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (where I am adjunct faculty). I’ve been in the AV industry since 1987 where I started with Extron and eventually moved to AMX. So, I guess I am an industry veteran (although I don’t think I am that old). I have been an opinionated columnist for a number of industry publications and in the late 1990s I started the widely read KNews eNewsletter (the first in the AV market) and also created the model for and was co-founder of AV Avenue, which is now known as InfoComm IQ. rAVe [Publications] has been around since 2003, when we launched our original newsletter, rAVe ProAV Edition. Everything we publish is Opt-in – we spam NO ONE! rAVe ProAV Edition is our flagship ePublication with what we believe is a reach of virtually everyone in the ProAV market. rAVe HomeAV Edition, co-published with CEDIA and launched in June 2004, is, by far, the largest ePub in the HomeAV market. We added rAVe Rental [and Staging] in December 2007, rAVe ED [Education] in May 2008 and then rAVe DS [Digital Signage] in June 2009. We added rAVe GHGav [Green, Healthcare & Government AV] in August 2010 and rAVe HOW [House of Worship] in August 2012. rAVe Radio, our podcasts, were launched in 2012. You can subscribe to any of those publication or see ALL our archives by going to: https://www.ravepubs.com To read more about my background, our team and what we do, go to https://www.ravepubs.com Back to Top | Copyright 2015 – rAVe [Publications] – All rights reserved – All rights reserved.
