Latest headlines: AVIXA’s latest report on the gender wage gap in the AV industry, Steph Beckett on why you should attend DSE and more

November 16, 2022 | Volume: 20 | Issue: 43

Welcome back to your ProAV newsletter, #AVtweeps. Not only do we have three very different but very fun columns for you guys, we also have news from URC, Panasonic, Nanolumens, DTEN and more.

So let’s jump in!

We at rAVe were thrilled to work with AVIXA to publish some reports the organization put together. In this report, AVIXA looks at whether the data points to a closed gender wage gap in ProAV. In news that surprises absolutely no one, we’re not quite there yet. But the first step to change is learning more — and this report will help you do just that.

Also, DSE starts TOMORROW! If you’re still just on the fence about attending, I wrote an article to convince you to join us. Don’t be shy; head on over to digitalsignageexperience.com and enter the code “RAVEGIFT” for free entry onto the show floor!

That’s all from me, folks. Time to hop on a plane to Las Vegas!

COLUMNS

+ ProAV: Are Women Fully Welcome? [Peter Hansen & Joé Lloyd]

As our data shows, women have not necessarily found their forever home in this industry. With underrepresentation at the forefront, possible bias and a deficit in advancement may be the consequence. Everyone deserves to feel welcomed, a level playing field and the opportunity for progress that is not yet equally available to all.

+ Why You Should Join Us at DSE 2022 [Steph Beckett]

If you’re an #AVtweep on the internet, you’ve likely heard us talk about how excited we are for DSE 2022. And just like that, the show is next week! Whether you’re local and considering making the drive to Las Vegas or you’re just shy of hitting that “book flight” button, here are some reasons I hope will convince you to attend the show. (It’s Nov. 17-19, by the way!)

+ Projection in Decline — But Strong Opportunities in High Brightness [Freddie Mossop]

The front projection market is projected to reach a value of $4.5 billion by 2026, new research from Futuresource Consulting finds. The figure is buoyed up by an industry-wide shift to high brightness, high resolution, and SSL (laser lightsource), which is the technology required to reach these upper-brightness categories.
