Latest headlines: Steph Beckett with an InfoComm 2021 Day One wrap-up, Megan A. Dutta’s article on favorite moments from InfoComm and more

November 3, 2021 | Volume: 19 | Issue: 41

And just like that, we’re back from InfoComm 2021! Don’t worry, though. We’ve still been plenty busy with our InfoComm coverage on the microsite and going live each day with rePLAY 2021. That leads me to talk about my column in this week’s newsletter. I write about Day 1 of InfoComm and everything running through my head as I explored the show floor. If you’re reading this, please yell at me: “Steph, finish up Day Two and Day Three.” They’re in my drafts! I promise!

Another great InfoComm piece this week is from Megan A. Dutta, who writes about some of the memorable moments from this year’s show. There were so many great things, but the consensus seems to be that the best part was that we were all together!

Also, Paul Konikowski writes about the recent iPhone spyware vulnerability. Learn more about what that is and how you can protect yourself and your information in this article. Also, it’s important to recognize that cybersecurity is part of AV. In this industry, we need to understand vulnerabilities to create a space in which client information is protected.

That’s about it from me, folks.

See you all during rePLAY 2021 tomorrow!

— Steph Beckett

+ SecuringAV: The iPhone Spyware Vulnerability [Paul Konikowski]

Ok, so let’s say your iPads and iPhones ARE updated regularly with security updates, good job! But didn’t the Pegasus attack go unnoticed for six months and required no clicks? How do we know there is not another spyware lurking on our tablets or phones, possibly immune to the recent patch?

Last week, #AVtweeps gathered for InfoComm 2021 in Orlando, Florida. For many, it was the first time they had seen this many of their peers in the same room since ISE 2020 in Amsterdam. We asked AV professionals to share their favorite show memories. Here’s what they had to say!
