Latest headlines: Murphy Daley on fear when it comes to growing a business, James Kirby on the pro microphone market and more

Happy October, everyone! To get in the spirit of spooky season, Murphy Daley wrote her October column all about fear. But, of course, this isn’t about fear of goblins, ghouls or zombies (with no conscience). Instead, Murphy is talking about fear of the unknown when it comes to growing a business. Fear has a purpose, but in business (and in our industry specifically), it’s essential to overcome fears — because then, the opportunities are endless.
The other column I’m featuring this week comes from our friends over at Futuresource Consulting. It may be refreshing for many of us to know that the professional microphone market is on the come-up after a rough 2020. According to this market forecast, the demand for USB and studio microphones will continue and once large gatherings return, everything will begin to bounce back. Check the article out for a more comprehensive breakdown.
Finally, some rAVe announcements:
Don’t forget to put those nominations in for the rAVe Readers’ Choice Awards 2021! The nominations close Oct. 10, so you still have a few more days to tell us what products and companies have been your favorites this year. Don’t forget; this is no pay-for-play award system. We just want you to pick who you want!
Also, you’ll notice we have a few LAVNCH & LEARNS on the way. Don’t be shy! Register to join for an event with Herman Pro AV on scaling your AV business and one from Mediasite on its automated room solutions (with connections to the cloud, real-time video recording and streaming from any source into the room).
We can do what comes naturally and avoid the scary stuff. However, if we choose to run away in fear, we miss out on many opportunities. The choice to avoid costs us the opportunity we could have had to explore, learn and grow. If we hide forever, we miss out on all the opportunities. Facing our fears and braving the unknown is worth doing.
The professional microphone market experienced diverging fortunes in 2020. Some manufacturers struggled to satisfy accelerating demand, while others faced a market in freefall. That’s according to a new report from Futuresource Consulting, which reveals the data behind the highs and lows and forecasts the future opportunities.
