Latest headlines: Lee Distad on why you need to get to know your clients, Gary Kayye on how OLED may trump LCD in the near future and more

Ah, it’s Thursday! One more day until we can relax this weekend. Our very own Gary Kayye may be buying his first OLED soon … Maybe this weekend is the time for you to shop for yours!

Seriously though, Gary’s piece “Is OLED About to Trump LCD?” talks OLED and if it has any possibility of overtaking LCD. OLEDs can be used wherever LCDs are. Perhaps that’s why Samsung might buy 5 million of them. Read the article to find out!

On another note, “Why You Need To Get To Know Your Clients” talks about the importance of personal relationships in business. You may be thinking, “Yeah, sure,” but Lee Distad’s column takes a deeper look into what bonding with clients can do for your business.

SnapAV is going public, hybrid CES 2022 plans and more in this week’s newsletter. See you next time!

COLUMNS

+ Why You Need to Get to Know Your Clients [Lee Distad]

Anybody who knows me knows that I seldom pass up a chance to quote the legendary agent Dicky Fox from the film “Jerry McGuire.” Fox explains, “The key to this business is personal relationships!” Maybe it’s not true of all industries, but it’s definitely true of the ones I’ve worked in. I’ll get to why that matters in a minute. As a salesperson, you have responsibilities to two other parties. You have a responsibility to your client to maximize the value of the solution you’re creating for them. You also have a responsibility to your company to maximize the profitability of that solution.

+ Is OLED About to Trump LCD? [Gary Kayye]

I am likely about to buy my first OLED in a matter of weeks. My decision won’t be which LG to buy, though even Samsung is about to launch OLED. What? Yep, you read that right. This month, Samsung allegedly agreed to buy something like 5 million OLED panels from LG over the next 18 months. That will yield three to four times as many displays, too. If the deal holds true, you can expect to see Samsung commercial and residential OLED by the end of the summer.
