November 24, 2020 | Volume: 18 | Issue: 44

This week, we’re thankful.

And while 2020 hasn’t exactly been kind to the industry, it’s worth recognizing just how much we still have to appreciate. For rAVe, one of those things is you — our readers. Without our readers, rAVe ProAV (and rAVe in general) would cease to exist. So thank you, dear readers, for giving rAVe the space and place to write about the audiovisual technology industry for you.

Our two columns this week offer two very different perspectives — one about how sales and project management seriously depend on each other, the other about AV in a unique vertical: motorsports. Also, find the story below that details Shure’s acquisition of California-based Stem Audio. Per the story, “Shure and Stem Audio will continue to operate separately as integration plans for sales and support are finalized. Future plans for the respective product portfolios will be shared later.” Straightforward and to the point. Like it.

You’ll also find stories and products below from brands like Exertis (formerly Stampede), Mersive, ClearOne, Extron, Utelogy, Sony, QSC and Holopops (the latter seemingly a competitor to ARHT Media). We hope to continue seeing even more manufacturer news before the end of the year and feel certain there’s a lot coming for 2021. After this year, how could it not?

Have a safe and healthy holiday for those of you who plan to celebrate. And don’t forget your mask.

— Leah McCann

COLUMNS

+ Sales Can Get a Boost From Project Managers [Murphy Daley]

Sales and project management: It’s two sides of the same coin. We need each other. There are no projects without sales. If the projects are successful, if the customer doesn’t have a good experience, the next sale will likely not be successful either. It’s always easier to sell to an existing customer. It’s also essential to stay in touch with the customer to capitalize on opportunities.

+ The Impact of AV in Motorsports [Morgan Lawrence]

Racing is more than just putting a driver in a car and hoping they cross the finish line first. The drivers and the car certainly play a massive role in the success, but racing has become a data-driven sport. Technology has become a requirement for teams to have a competitive advantage.
