Happy Wednesday! It’s the week after InfoComm, but we’ve been busy here with rePLAY 2021 and getting all our show floor coverage on the microsite for you. Don’t forget to check it out!
Our first column this week is another piece in Paul Konikowski’s Securing AV series. This time, Paul covers a recent issue found in the security of iPhones. In early September, Apple released an update that fixed a security flaw in Apple products, but before it was found, foreign governments could see personal texts, messages, emails and more for six months. So what does this have to do with AV? In the current hybrid and BYOD workplace environment — and with iPhones being in almost every home these days — unprotected devices can be hacked, and company information could be recorded. Check out Paul’s piece about this occurrence and how we can learn from this to move forward.
Our other column this week is all about project managers! And it’s just in time, as Nov. 4 is International Project Management Day. Lee Distad’s piece takes a look into the role that project managers play in AV and highlights the good and the bad things about their jobs that often go underappreciated. Project managers make intense plans, problem solve, handle inventory, communicate efficiently and work with engineers. These are not simple tasks, and Lee feels it is important to remember project managers in our industry. So, thank your PMs today, and celebrate them on Thursday!
Otherwise, check out industry news from CEDIA and Snap One, and see product news from Powersoft, AtlasIED and Optoma. I think that’s it for now — I’ll see you next time! Bye!
