Early in March, rAVe’s assistant editor, Steph Beckett, wrote, in this very space, “Do you ever think it’s daunting to try and look into the future of our industry? I do.”
She couldn’t be more right. We function in a market that’s continually changing and improving; it can seem daunting, almost impossible, to envision what things will look like a year (or even a month) from now. Who would have ever predicted we’d be where we are now? (Lookin’ at you, Zoltar.) But this, this very question, reveals what’s so bloody brilliant about the ProAV industry — that it sorta does have the ability and skill to predict the future. Meaning, few trades are as skilled as we are at taking what we know now, identifying trends, envisioning a more connected future … then actually DOING something about it. Maybe this is just me, but have you ever really thought long and hard about how the engineers, product specialists, systems designers, installers, integrators, event specialists, marketers, distributors and AV-industry sales reps are changing the entire ecosystem of how we live and work every day? I’m letting that sink in, and it’s almost overwhelming. In a good way.
Enough mumbling. We have plenty of ProAV news, columns and industry updates for you today, so we’ll just let you get right into it.
