Hey, HomeAV pros and fans! This week’s newsletter has some exciting news and columns, including CEDIA’s registration for its Virtual First Look Media Preview Tour! Don’t miss your chance to get the inside scoop of the CEDIA floor, days ahead of everyone else. Though we don’t know who the prequalified exhibitors will be, we do know there will be 10 featured products on the tour — find out more details here!
Anyway, let’s talk about our columns for the week! There’s a famous quote by Edith Head that says, “You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it.” Lee Distad’s “Looking The Part” may not guarantee you everything you desire, but it does speak to presenting yourself professionally. Choosing comfortable, appropriate and safe clothing is also extremely important for some AV jobs. How do you dress for your workplace?
Our second column, “USB Headaches,” also touches on the appearance of things. As we know in the HomeAV industry, usability and tasteful design are incredibly important. Perhaps that’s why the USB’s creator says the original design is quite confusing — it could only be plugged in one way! Luckily for us, design (and fashion) have come a lot further than the turn of the century (we’ve come a long way from the floor-length dusters and studded belts of the early 2000s). How have your HomeAV products changed since their creation, and where do you think they will be in another decade?
That’s it for now! While you read the rest of this newsletter, throw out that old fedora and register for CEDIA 2021. I hope you have a great rest of your week, and I’ll see you next time!
