This month was one of the busiest in company history. We had
New York Digital Signage Week,
Zoomtopia, an Almo ProAV
E4 Experience event and our parent company, THE rAVe Agency, has been working all month on the launch of a new Talent — that’ll be debuted November 1st
here and all over social media, I am sure. Oh, and I hit 334,000 views for my first, ever post using TikTok! Follow me: @garykayye And, of course, follow rAVe @rAVePubs, too. (Thanks, Elizabeth!).
But, first, let me talk Zoomtopia: There’s ZERO doubt in my mind that Zoom — the eight-year-old company founded by former WebEx’er Eric Yuan, is the Apple of the AV market. No other company has garnered the pre-event scuttlebutt and port-event coverage that Zoom has with their three-year-old self-branded Zoomtopia event. It’s a trade show, product launch and party, in one. And, we have the best coverage of it —
it all starts out here.
New York Digital Signage Week (NYDSW) ended up grabbing some negative attention as it's so spread out (over 15 different venues) and over an entire week but, we loved it. We see logistics issues but, there’s a big need for an event like this that focuses on more than just new products — the point of the annual Digital Signage Show. And, there's no way DSE can ever provide it, either, as they’re in Las Vegas and focused on being a place to launch new products. Sure, there’s an educational and a networking component to DSE, but no where close to what NYDSW has. But, I could be wrong and DSE could decide that being just a trade show isn’t good enough. But, with the recent loss of both Samsung and LG as exhibitors, DSE may not have room to evolve into what NYDSW has become. Our NYDSW coverage
starts here — and is filled with a few of our favorite videos we shot on-site.
Almo finished their 2019 E4 Experience a few weeks ago and this brings to a close my second most popular keynote, ever (behind my 4K one) — it was all about AV-over-IP. If you missed it,
you can see a 2018 recording of it here. (It’s the top one.) And, you can actually watch that 4K one, too (it’s the second one).
Finally, this issue is filled with new product news that’s important for you to keep tabs on — for example, Sharp’s the first company in the world to have shipped the WCD —
Windows Collaboration Board. Extron launched a new
DMP 128 FlexPlus, a 48×24 Dante-endabled DSP and Elo
dropped a new 55” 4K collaboration board. But, my favorite piece in here is from Anthony Coppedge on the value of marketing (and how to gauge ROI). I hope you take the time to read it. Oh, and — #AVisLIFE!
