Dare we say the holiday season is nearly upon us? I know, it’s mid-November, Thanksgiving is next week, and it’s honestly all a blur. How did we get here? Well, the year is not over yet, #AVtweeps, and we’ve got plenty more to dig into before anyone checks out (resist the urge!).
This issue of HomeAV gives us stories covering both short- and long-term outlooks. In “Will There Be a Rise of Home Studios?” Scott Tiner wants us to think about opportunities in the home studio, drawing from this year’s learnings in the workplace as inspiration. In “So You Want an E-commerce Portal? Part 1,” Lee Distad makes a case for e-commerce in the AV industry and shares personal examples from his experience in e-comm working for a full-service distributor.
On the product and industry-news side, Sanus has two new mounts designed for the Sonos Arc sound bar. SnapAV brand Binary has released a new MoIP (Media-over-IP) audio transmitter and receiver for residential-based audio distribution. And neither last nor least, Jason C. McGraw, CTS, CAE, has been tapped to oversee CEDIA Expo (the show you likely know well as serving the residential integrated technology industry) and KBIS (the show you might not know as well but that stands for Kitchen and Bath Industry Show). McGraw most recently served as senior VP of expositions and event services for AVIXA, and InfoComm 2018 marked his, quite impressively, 25th annual InfoComm show. We look forward to seeing what McGraw will do with CEDIA Expo.
Have a great week, and we’ll be back with you soon.
