Hello, rAVe home readers! I hope you’re all having a great week. (Hi, yes, we’ve made it halfway through!) And today, I would like to talk to you about the Amish. OK, it wasn’t my idea, it was Leonard Suskin’s — but he took a trip to THE Amish capital (Lancaster, Pennsylvania), and he wanted to talk about their use of technology. Of course, we assume all the Amish shun the benefit of all technology because that’s what we’ve been taught. Leonard mentions the Weird Al hit, “Amish Paradise.” Yes, I knew all the words to this song in seventh grade. But it’s not like that in real life! Leonard’s point is just because they’re Amish doesn’t mean they are Luddites. Give it a read if you want some new perspective!
Also, Lee Distad has some useful insight on forecasting during this weird, weird time. Finally, Mark Coxon talks about the idea of adaptive forgetfulness — and how it might actually be a benefit to us.
Finally, check out the product updates for this week — they include new solutions from Samsung, Trinnov Audio, McIntosh, Philips Professional Display Solutions, Savant, etc. We also have some more general industry news that consists of a few things from CEDIA and ISE updates. Finally, catch the latest case study from Control4.
Enjoy, everybody!
