I’ve been watching this lawyer drama on TV lately (or rather, on my iPad), which has in several instances used AV technology for comedic effect. In one scene, a PTZ camera that automatically turns its attention to whomever is speaking (for “lecture” capture recording) has trouble keeping up with all the panning, tilting and zooming it has to do as a group of lawyers in a meeting argue and talk on top of each other. In another, an immigration judge is videoconferenced in to hearings in which the laywers have to shout so they can be heard, the judge’s audio keeps cutting out and finally, he freezes on-screen (in an amusingly awkward freeze frame) as the internet connection is dropped. While not great to be the butt of jokes (and anyway, it’s IT’s fault!), these are pretty funny and it’s fun to have our industry featured. (If you’re interested, the show is The Good Fight.)
