Hello everyone, I hope you are all staying safe and well. I want to talk to you a little bit about Lee Distad’s latest blog — that is — teaching your elderly family how to use Zoom!
I’ll start off by saying if my dad knew I was grouping him in with the elderly, he would live up to that parent promise of “I brought you into this world, and I can take you out of it.” But ANYWAY I won’t tell if y’all won’t. About my dad: He considers himself to be an early adopter. He buys a new phone, computer, TV, etc. before I do. He likes to at least know how all the new things work even if he doesn’t buy them (but he usually does).
He draws the line at Zoom. To be honest, he draws the line at any videoconferencing/video chatting tech other than FaceTime — and refuses to let me teach him how to use any application or web client. So, this goes to say, if your family actually wants to learn how to use this stuff, help them out! It’s no fun being the family IT support — I can relate — I’ve on occasion had to revert my grandpa’s Facebook back to English when he’s accidentally changed it to Japanese — but these are the sacrifices we make. Do what you can to keep your family close right now!
As for the rest of this newsletter, I hope you will enjoy reading about the latest automation solution from SAVI Controls, receivers from Yamaha and an integrated amplifier and CD player from Marantz. Because that is what’s in here (plus more).
I am leaving for the beach tomorrow, so I hope you, like me, are looking forward to a weekend of relaxation!
Later dudes.
