During the holiday season, we spend time thinking about the definition of “home.” Home can be the house you grew up in, simply being with family and friends, or even a seat on an airplane. My wish to you this holiday season is that, whatever you define as home, you are able to be comfortable, happy and with loved ones. Happy Holidays to you!
In this issue we have a moving story about Fred Bargetzi, a piece on estimation by Lee Distad and product news from Just Add Power, Metra Home Theater Group, IKEA, SnapA, RTI and Extron.
Another really cool story is that of the announcement of a smart home control standards group, which is being fueled by the biggest names in the space. That and much more is below!
I’ve thought about this a lot and from my vantage point, having spent the past 30 years of my life as an AV design consultant, I believe there’s no other single individual who has had a greater impact on the lives of more people in AV over the last decade or more — essentially the "digital AV" era — than Crestron CTO Fred Bargetzi.
In the previous installment, we took an overview of estimating and examined some of the basic concepts. Building off of that, it’s time to dig in with a little more detail and provide some context about selecting which methods to apply when you need to develop an estimate.
