Latest headlines: Helen Matthews on how live events will impact the system camera market and Lee Distad on facing unexpected surprises.

January 27, 2022 | Volume: 16 | Issue: 2

Happy Thursday, guys! It’s been a busy week at rAVe due to an office change, but I’m back with more Rental news, case studies and industry updates!

One of our columns today features a study by Futuresource and discusses how live events will revive the system camera market! The original lockdown in 2020 forced live events to shut down overnight, but thanks to vaccines and testing measures, the return of live events is projected to allow the system camera market to achieve annual growth in fiscal year 2021! Read more about how live, in-person events will contribute to growth in the AV industry in this column by Helen Matthews.

The second column I have for you discusses an issue that is the worst nightmare for some of us! When Lee Distad’s client asked for a status update on a purchase order, he found that he had no record of the order whatsoever. What can you do as an AV professional in this case? How would you react if you were missing items needed to set up a live event? Find out how Lee handled the situation and get more tips in this piece.

That’s all for now, but don’t miss a few cool case studies below! My favorite is the one about DPA Microphones — what’s yours? Let me know next time. Until then, have a great weekend, and I’ll see you soon!

+ How Live Events Are Set To Revive the System Camera Market [Helen Matthews]

This forced migration to remote production throughout FY20 resulted in a paradigm shift in attitudes toward certain technologies, including professional pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras, which in turn caused some concern that the recovery of the system camera market may be inhibited by the adoption of alternative technologies.

+ Unwelcome Surprises [Lee Distad]

One unpleasant surprise that was smaller in scope than a natural disaster happened to me a couple of weeks prior to those events. I got an email from one of the contacts at one of my clients, asking for an update on the status of one of their purchase orders. Only one problem: I didn’t have any record of it.
