I recently saw that Gary Kayye posted about this case study on LinkedIn. Seeing as it’s relevant, I thought I’d use this opportunity to give you the gist:
What: One of the world’s largest — and not socially distanced — concerts since the pandemic, with 32,000+ attendees
Who: The concert featured local favorite Six60, a band signed by Epic Records, part of Sony
Where: Sky Stadium in Wellington, New Zealand (an outdoor, open-air venue)
When: February 2021
How: L-Acoustics had a hand in making sure it all went down well. The manufacturer’s K Series was used by sound production company (and the official L-Acoustics rental network partner for New Zealand) College Hill Productions. According to College Hill, Sky Stadium is notorious for its poor sound quality. Most venues for the Six60 tour were flat-field, festival-style sites, which required a system capable of long throw distances.
How (because, you know, COVID): While the country is quite small, New Zealand’s handling of the pandemic was pretty impressive. So I guess that’s how.
I won’t lie: I’m jealous. I hope we’ll be able to experience a concert like that again soon. For now, it’s live-event-streaming city (find some related products on livestreaming below). And we’ll see you at LAVNCH WEEK 4.0, right?
Some projects have time to complete. Some projects are urgent. The tighter the timeline, the more monitoring required. Each AV integrator has tools for gathering this information. These include forms from purchasing, the warehouse and info from the suppliers. The delivery tracking numbers will come from FedEx, UPS and other delivery services. All these different sources of information have to be aggregated and tracked. I create a Microsoft Excel sheet for each job to track and update it as I go. I’ve gathered questions to consider as the equipment is on its way.
Whether you’re new to the audiovisual world or an old pro, a glossary of words to help you understand what we’re referencing in our articles and communications with you is a helpful tool. Below is some common audiovisual lingo with its proper definitions. It’s broken up into different categories: video, audio, AV IT, lighting and general.
