Wi-Fi HaLow is here … and it uses less power but includes better range? What sorcery is this?! Supposed to attract the IoT industry, some say HaLow can finally convince installers to kiss wires goodbye for good. But as we integrate more IoT devices on college campuses, can we expect HaLow to show up in universities or schools any time soon?
Anyway, I also wanted to point out and discuss the case study that takes place in rAVe’s backyard (basically) about the AV-over-IP system at UNC’s esports center — in the basement of a dorm! Just goes to show that if you aren’t pushing to integrate esports into your colleges and maybe even high schools and middle schools, you’re missing the boat! Wi-Fi has been the dread of most professional installers who would usually rather lose a finger than predicate any of their solutions on wireless. If Wi-Fi 6 from CES 2022 doesn’t convince the wire-pullers, then Wi-Fi Alliance has another runner to put in the race.
If you really dig in, you’ll see that many of the tools are made for yesterday’s paradigm, but companies shouldn’t be investing money in fighting yesterday’s war. And in those gaps lies a huge opportunity to add value and innovate.
