Latest headlines: Scott Tiner on Crestron’s recent Town Hall events, Futuresource Consulting on the meeting room camera market and more

October 4, 2022 | Volume: 15 | Issue: 19

Scott Tiner attended one of Crestron’s Town Halls in his latest column. While the chip shortage stories are still all the rage, Scott writes all about what he learned from Crestron. One of the most important lessons he gleaned was that the NVX has about 2,500 different parts and pieces. While these parts used to cost a few cents apiece, today they can cost $30-40 each. Take that and a few supply issues and you’ve got yourself the perfect storm. Read more about the Town Hall here.

In our other column this time, Alistair Johnston of Futuresource takes a look at meeting room cameras and how the market is showing buoyancy right now. With 360-degree cameras heading this charge, the market pushed sales above $1 billion in 2021.

That’s all from me. Have a great rest of the week!

COLUMNS

+ An Analysis of Crestron’s ‘Town Hall’ Sessions: Addressing the Supply Chain [Scott Tiner]

It is no secret to the AV world that most companies have dealt with incredible supply chain issues in the past 18 months. We hear horror stories of companies changing ship dates from weeks, to months to even years. It is not uncommon today to hear of 18 -24-month ship dates. For some reason, much of the vitriol about this has been aimed at Crestron.

+ Meeting Room Camera Market Breaks $1 Billion Barrier in 2021 and Continues to Perform [Alistair Johnston]

The market for meeting room cameras continues to show buoyancy, as hybrid working patterns maintain their presence in the commercial landscape. A new report from Futuresource Consulting shows that volumes increased across every meeting room camera category last year, culminating in 15% volume growth and 19% value growth year-on-year.
