I was in New York City last week visiting a friend, and she let me drag her to a musical while I was there. (I’m a Broadway junkie, sorry not sorry.) We went to see “Jagged Little Pill,” a jukebox musical based around Alanis Morissette’s most-loved album. And when I tell you I was floored … I laughed, I cried, I cried some more, and then I cried some more. But then again, I’ve been known to get emotional when music strikes me as particularly beautiful. So, what do I do? Look up who made the equipment, of course! Although I couldn’t find what particular equipment they use now, I did find that before the show got picked up by Broadway, it used a combo of sets from Meyer Sound and Shure, depending on the venue. So, if anyone knows who makes it now, connect with me on LinkedIn and tell me because I want to know what company is responsible for designing the sound that made me sob. That’s all!
In terms of columns today, we have one from Scott Tiner on how we should combat sexism in our industry as we move forward (we simply love to see it) and, of course, Gary Kayye’s top AV news stories of 2019.
In other news, the Samsung Sero is on its way to U.S. markets, JBL has a new IRX series of powered loudspeakers, and disguise has a new update for its live-events design software.
