We’re at the point in this pandemic when it’s time to start making some choices. There are things we’ve learned over the past year about ourselves, our co-workers and our customers. It’s time to put what we’ve learned into action.
This is sort of the theme of Jeff Hastings’ latest blog. The pandemic has taught him a few things about the digital signage industry, and he shares what those are. Hint: Not everything has to be about touch-interactivity.
Also in this issue, Tom Kehr shares his resources for becoming your best AV self. If you know Tom, you know that he knows a lot about our industry and is great at teaching others. All that knowledge had to come from somewhere, and he shares a lot of his secrets.
Finally, check out some new additions from Epson (new LightScene projectors), AG Neovo (commercial displays made for the DS and control room markets), Broadsign (new collab with Pikasso) and more!
Have a great week, and stay cool!

The past year demonstrated how the immense flexibility of digital signage helped many organizations quickly adapt to operate safely during the pandemic. And while we’re not yet out of the woods, this is a good time to reflect on some takeaways from the COVID-19 crisis.
Like many of you, I tripped into this whole AV thing. My first lessons started in college, learning how to over-and-under wrap 50-foot mic cables and putting microphones away at the end of the day. When the school installed a new console in their auditorium in the spring of 1986, I met the integrator, David Bretzke, who sold them the new 48-channel console. That also turned into my first all-nighter. Thus began a two-year, part-time internship with David — and I soaked up everything I could. David was my first mentor, my first resource. But over the years, I’ve found many invaluable resources to build my knowledge upon — people, organizations, websites and papers.
