I love this sentence from Anthony Coppedge’s recent column:

“We have become conditioned to somehow expect instant, lag-free, high-resolution, app-controlled goodness at our fingertips.”

And it is so very, very, very timely for my current place and time: a holiday family gathering.

As we have discussed before, I serve as the dedicated IT and AV manager for my family, their friends, their friends of friends and then also sometimes THE rAVe Agency. No, Sara, this isn’t a complaint :).

I haven’t been asked quite yet to “update the Sonos system,” “fix the universal remote” or “tell Alexa to actually listen” on this holiday break away with my family but I know it will come.

If my grandad asks what is wrong with Alexa, this is my immediate response. In fact, I am going to go play it for my family right now.

Enjoy the issue!

+ Selling AV: Everything Is Amazing and No One Is Happy [Anthony Coppedge]

Comedian Louis CK once said: "Everything is amazing, and no one is happy." In the neverending quest for the technology that makes everyone happy, no one is happy because the expectation is often that all technology should be perfect by now and that any issues with current technology (or lack thereof) could be fully remedied with new technology. Nevermind the fact that it would take an electron-scanning microscope to notice the intricate details that make much of our AVL technology work, which is mind-blowing if you sit and think about it too long (so don’t). We have become conditioned to somehow expect instant, lag-free, high-resolution, app-controlled goodness at our fingertips.
