Just like that, it’s the weekend!

First of all — since I used a Daniel Craig gif — if you’ve seen the new James Bond film, Gary shares his thoughts on it in the most recent rAVe [TV] episode, if you’re curious.

Now to the digital signage news. I have some great, InfoComm-themed columns to get you ready for the show. The first is from Gary Kayye, all about how utilizing QR codes can help with your trade show experience. If that’s confusing to you, go ahead and check out his article.

Also, Jeff Hastings from BrightSign wrote his column that shows us what the company’s decision-making process was like when choosing who to send to InfoComm, how big of a space, what all do they need this year, etc. It’s refreshing to get a peek behind the curtain of what deciding this was like — I feel like there have been so many question marks leading up to this trade show and I hope it helps anyone else who is still in decision-making mode.

That’s all from me, check out the updates from Light Field, PPDS, VuWall and more.

Have a lovely weekend, y’all.

COLUMNS

+ Part 3: Simple Expectations of InfoComm 2021 — Use QR Codes [Gary Kayye]

Today’s blog is all about why you should NOT be handing out any physical collateral but, instead, you should rely on a 1990s-era technology known as the QR code. Due to the pandemic, the barely used technology, known as the QR code, has had a giant resurgence. Ironically, what’s happening today is exactly what the inventors of the QR code intended to happen back in the early 2000s when QR codes found their way onto phone applications.

+ How to Get the Job You Want — Selling Your Value: Part 2 [Michael Katz]

By applying to places where I had contacts (aka champions), I was able to learn each company’s interview process. This was incredibly valuable. A piece of advice: Always leverage your contacts to join a company; it saves a lot of time and lowers stress.

+ See You at InfoComm! [Jeff Hastings]

If we’ve learned nothing else from this pandemic, we’ve certainly learned the importance of adaptation in the face of ever-changing circumstances. Like any crisis situation, countless times we’ve needed to quickly assess a situation, measure risks and make the best decision possible with the information available at that particular moment. Even once decisions were made, we’ve needed to remain open to changing course as circumstances evolved. The upcoming InfoComm show in Orlando is a prime example of the sort of “dynamic decision-making” described above.
