Happy Monday, AV pros and fans! I hope you’ve had a great start to your week. We’ve got some great columns and exciting industry and product pieces for you in this newsletter. There seems to be a lot of LED displays being released this week….so if you’re a Digital Signage fan, you’re in for a treat!

Our first column by Michael Katz talks all things cloud-computing. “The Cloud Verses On-Prem, That Is the Question” gives a few detailed pointers on why end users may find cloud-based solutions to be their best tool. Though there are benefits to on-premises software/hardware solutions, what differences could cloud-based services offer you or your clients?

The second column, “Integrated Systems Europe 2021: Digital Conference Recap,” is an overview of some of the main presentations from ISE 2021 in Barcelona earlier this month. From a global economic perspective to the future of integrator services, this article offers quick recaps of various sessions from ISE. They all left ISE with a smile on their faces.

+The Cloud Versus On-Prem, That Is the Question [Michael Katz]

One of the first marketing/technology terms that I learned when I joined a video managed services company in 2008 — versus previously working at a telecom company — was the difference between a cloud-based service (not a weather system) versus on-prem (aka on-site) hardware products. I currently work for a digital signage company that provides both cloud SaaS (single or multitenancy) and on-prem (as we have clients that use either solution). We even occasionally provide a hybrid, where we combine cloud services and utilize some of the clients’ on-prem equipment.

Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) came to us both in-person and digitally this year. ISE 2021 took place in-person at the Fira Gran Via in Barcelona on June 1 and 2. In addition to the in-person event, the show was streamed live online via a free digital ticket to the two-day event. ISE 2021 will continue on June 23-24 in London, but so far, here are a few of our favorite events and a bit of a recap of the digital show.
