Have you gotten your vaccine 💉 yet?

This seems to be the launch conversation for many of my Zoom meetings lately. The excitement that we see light-at-the-end-of-this-pandemic tunnel is exciting everyone and it appears to be driven, in large part, to the availability of the vaccines. I was fortunate to be part of the Pfizer trial (you can actually read all about my COVID-19 trial experience here) and got my vaccine back in September 2020. I distinctly remember the feeling after getting the second shot — excitement and relief. And, let’s be honest here, no segment of our market was more affected (positively and negatively) than the UCC market. Here’s what happened:
  1.  UCC software application usage exploded. Zoom usage grew 30x from pre-pandemic levels.
  2. Collaboration board sales plummeted to 15-18% of 2019 levels.
  3. A new generation of software collaboration tools emerged with Bluescape leading the way.
  4. Every audio company — and even a display company — introduced mic arrays to help solve HyFlex classroom and meeting audio issues.
  5. Virtual events became normalized; heck, our LAVNCH Platform has experienced 650% growth over the last seven months.
  6. People are craving human collaborative experiences. We like WFH but we want to be together again!
  7. Our first show back, live, will NOT be InfoComm — it’ll be Enterprise Connect in September! We will be there to cover it!
Oh, by the way, next week I am delivering a free webinar 🖥, the “State of the Collaboration Market.” I hope you’ll check it out and consider attending!

Enjoy this issue,

COLUMNS

+ Switching on the Edge [Mark Coxon]

Many are predicting work weeks that may look less like the five days in the office with a two-day weekend setup of the past and more like a three, two, two — with three days in an office, two days working at home and a two-day weekend. Remote technologies will be used every day to some capacity. However, calling all the meeting technology “hybrid” falls short of recognizing all the ways the systems can be configured.

+ Almo Spring E4v: How to UC & See Into the Future [Leah McCann]

Through its third full E4v, but its first in 2021, distributor Almo Professional A/V proved, once again, that it would give the AV and IT industries the forward-thinking education and content it needed. Our wrap-up for day one is here.
