There have been times in this industry when I’ve walked into a room (back when walking into rooms full of people was a thing), and I’ve thought, “I have to be the least knowledgeable person here about X subject.” Luckily, I’ve never had to feel that way for long because I have fantastic mentors in AV who have pushed me to learn more, do more and be more. We can even expand this idea into the journalism realm as well — that is where I came from, after all. If I hadn’t had great mentors, I would be so much worse off. That leads us to the subject of today’s newsletter.
Whether you’re on the marketing side of the digital signage industry studying the latest DOOH trends or an installer of video walls, you probably have at least one person in mind when someone mentions a mentor. But there aren’t a ton of them in AV. Why is that? Our new BlogSquad member, Nathan Haynes, takes a look at that and answers this question: How would our industry be different if mentorship were a bigger priority?
Also, in this issue, check out the two DPAA recaps I finally edited and got up on the site (I promised you, didn’t I?) and product news from the likes of Crestron, 22Miles, LG and more.
P.S. I won’t say that I’m hiding Disney songs in my intros again, but I will say that my co-worker Brooke is mad at me for stopping, so I’M BACK, BABY.
