Are you headed to ISE 2019 in Amsterdam in a couple weeks? Last year, Scott Tiner wrote about how those working on or selling to the education market should be attending ISE, not only because so much is announced there, but also because the timing of the show matched up so much better with education’s buying cycle and work cycle than some other events do.

We’ll be posting all of our ISE news, including all the product videos we shoot, as we always do, on our ISE MicroSite here, so if you can’t convince the higher-ups this year, you can still follow along.

COLUMNS

+ Let’s Talk About Specs [Leonard Suskin]

At best, a system specification gives clear and complete details on how a system is to function, what equipment it should include, how users should interact with it and how its completion and performance can be verified. At worst, it’s an equipment list and single-line drawing sandwiched between indigestible stacks of boilerplate. I’ve seen too much of the latter in the industry and have been working very hard to produce the former.

+ Three AV Companies to Watch in 2019 [Mark Coxon]

I have tried to avoid writing one of these blogs. I resisted the temptation to wrap up my top moments of 2018. I stayed clear of making tech predictions for 2019. I even managed not to comment on others' top moment lists and predictions. All in all, I was doing pretty well… until yesterday.

+ ISE 2019 Simplifies Show with Six Tech Zones — You NEED to Read This Before Going [Gary Kayye]

There are 15 halls at ISE 2019 in Amsterdam 5-8 February and show management has worked year after year to try to find a way to help visitors, well, visit. It’s LITERALLY impossible to go to the show and stay all four days and see the entire show floor. But for those of you lucky enough to be going to Amsterdam, ISE has divided the 15 halls into six tech zones.
