rAVe DS [Digital Signage] — Volume 12, Issue 10
Latest headlines: Jeff Hastings on the digital signage ecosystem, Steph Beckett on Almo’s E4v, plus news from Matrox, Tripleplay and more

May 29, 2020 | Volume: 12 | Issue: 10

Hello, everyone! I hope you’re all hanging in there and doing well! Let’s talk about all the different digital signage options on the market. Why? Because I just learned a lot about dvLED during Almo’s E4v last week. If you are in the business of installing those, my hat goes off to you because it takes a lot! Adam Coleman walked all viewers/attendees through the process of specifying this particular type of display — and not gonna lie, my head was spinning.

Check out the rest of my thoughts about E4v in the columns section. As usual, I’m informative and very funny.

Our other column I have to offer you is straight from Jeff Hastings over at BrightSign. He wrote about the IHS Markit Digital Signage Industry Market Tracker — and how the DS industry should adopt an ecosystem style of thinking. Check out his insights below!

Finally, here’s the tea and by tea I mean industry news: Mimo Monitors and Revel Digital Software made a touch-free, temperature taking platform. Planar is expanding its LED display options with its FX Series. Also — Verizon Media joined the DPAA Association.

Have a great weekend!

— Steph Beckett

COLUMNS

+ The Digital Signage Ecosystem and the IHS Markit Digital Signage Industry Market Tracker [Jeff Hastings]

Our industry is more diverse than it’s ever been. The IHS Markit Digital Signage Industry Market Tracker presents separate data in eight vertical markets, and many of these verticals are themselves very diverse. Signage needs to be secure, stable, easy to update and affordable. That means using a relatively standardized hardware platform across many segments to deliver economic performance and reliability. But the platform also needs to be flexible, allowing businesses to respond quickly to new challenges.

+ I Attended Almo’s E4v — Here’s What I Learned [Steph Beckett]

As with many events in the world right now, Almo Professional A/V canceled its E4 Experience(s) that was supposed to happen this spring. Instead, the distributor held an utterly online version — calling it the E4 Evolution or E4v. I wrote a sneak preview about it a couple of weeks ago. But in case you missed that, here is the gist.
