Yesterday was a fairly standard, albeit busy (with ISE right around the corner), day at rAVe … and then the AVI-SPL merger news happened. We were the first to report the story, where we divulged the details from our exclusive call with AVI-SPL’s John Zettel and Whitlock’s Doug Hall; we learned that AVI-SPL and Whitlock have jointly announced an intention to merge (though, technically, it’s a “definitive agreement to merge”). This means the second-largest integration firm is merging with the third-largest — jointly creating the biggest AV dealer globally.
This is significant news for the UCC community and AV community at large — reminding us, in the heat of the lead-up to ISE, why you always have to be on your toes in this industry.
In the spirit of keeping up, have a look through this week’s collection of rAVe product news, and dive into an excellent column by rAVe blogger Christopher Gillespie (“UI vs. UX: The Battle for Happier Customers”). As we reflect on the last few weeks (which have brought us a flurry of world events — not all good), we ask ourselves this: How will we, in our roles and situations in life, choose to respond to what’s happening around us? Food for thought.
