Hiya, folks! I know that many of you are no stranger to designing audio (and solving audio problems) in spaces used for multiple purposes. If so, Tony Sprando and Kate Couch’s latest column is for you! They have previously written about the challenges to solving audio problems in residential spaces — but commercial ones are a whole other ball game. Especially when you’re trying to make the audio work for, say, a gymnasium.
rAVe writer Mark Coxon also writes about a term he is calling the “AV Sandbox.” What is it, you ask? It’s a name for a space used to test different user interfaces and designs with real people. So often in the industry, AV designs are expected to mirror human behavior, and we don’t get the opportunity to play-test system designs. He makes some excellent points.
