Our column this week talks about getting young people involved in the audiovisual industry. Alexis La Broi gives some examples of how we can encourage young workers to get involved with the industry. She says it’s vital to foster a welcoming and engaging environment in internships, training plans and apprenticeships. Before that, we need to make the AV world exciting and welcoming to get new people interested in being part of our world! Do you remember how you got your start in AV? One of the reasons I advocate for internship and apprenticeship opportunities for young people is because of the opportunities that I experienced myself as a young person starting out. Those experiences led me on the career path that I have been on for the past 25 years. All that said, paid internships are vitally important for young people to help them find the paths that they’d like to pursue in life. How can we in the audiovisual industry create opportunities for young people to find their way to us?
