It’s Friday again, #HOWtweeps, and we’re ready for the weekend! Though this newsletter is on the shorter side, I wanted to point out that we have multiple case studies for you this time around! There’s been a lot of movement in the HOW sector lately, and these stories offer an exciting look into how houses of worship are tackling audio, video and production problems with great new products. You can find them below!

Our first column this week is from our very own Gary Kayye. Sometimes we don’t realize the possibilities we have because we overlook our products and venues and assume their use is limited to what they were designed for. Well, LEDs and houses of worship have been keeping a secret — they both hold the key to a variety of opportunities we haven’t yet considered. What do set design, LED screens and houses of worship offer to your future ideas?

Our second column is by guest writer Hadi Sumoro. This article is a detailed piece that lays out the basics for sound design in smaller venues with small sound systems. Many houses of worship know the power of using sound to enhance their services. For those new to AV or sound systems, this piece lays out ideas and advice in layman terms for setting up professional and quality sound. Go back to the basics on microphones, loudspeakers, subwoofers, speech intelligibility and more in this article.

I think that just about covers it, guys. I hope you enjoy this newsletter and have a wonderful weekend. Until next time!

COLUMNS

+ The LED Will Bring You Opportunities You Never Knew Existed [Gary Kayye]

Most houses of worship are only used a few hours a week. The rest of the time, the worship halls are either empty or barely visited. And, even with the accelerated concerns about COVID-19 or future viruses, the openness of the typical worship hall offers an amazing opportunity for uses that will help both future funding opportunities for houses of worship as well as creative opportunities for immersive entertainment.

+ When the Volume Knob Goes to the Right [rAVe Team]

The intention of this article is to help a small venue with a small sound system scale requirement that does not have a sufficient budget to hire a sound system consultant and/or do proper professional installations. This article will present a very fundamental approach to how loudspeakers should be placed/arranged without too much technicality.
