Christopher Jaynes’ most recent blog, The Isolated Worlds of Videoconferencing
, could not be more timely. The UCC space, especially the virtual meetings vertical, is close to full saturation despite Zoom’s activity in occupying most of the market share from a use perspective. A buyer purchases a videoconferencing service and they deploy it in their organization — and for larger organizations, different buyers buy different services (and this isn’t even including acquisitions and mergers). Meeting attendees (both inter-organization and outer-organization) then find themselves installing every soft codec on the market to be able to attend all of the meetings they find themselves needing to attend.
Christopher’s recommendation: Don’t tell a Samsung user to buy an iPhone and vice versa. The same perspective applies to cloud meeting solutions. Read more about his thoughts in the blog below.
