1. AMIMON to Demo Uncompressed Wireless HDTV Transmission AMIMON will demonstrate at CES the company’s HD video technology, which delivers wireless uncompressed HD video streams the company says rivals HDMI quality. The company clocks their transmissions up to 1.5Gbps and AMIMON also says latency is less than a millisecond. AMIMON's WHDI (Wireless High-Definition Interface) semiconductor technology will be incorporated into a wireless video-aware modem chip, wirelessly transmitting high-definition video streams provided through uncompressed HD video interfaces such as DVI, HDMI or component video. DTS to Showcase 7.1 Discrete HD Audio Channels DTS plans to demonstrate its DTS-HD Master Audio, a high-definition surround sound system the company says will deliver bit-for-bit identical sound to the master soundtrack of a high definition video. DTS-HD Master Audio has been selected as an option in the standards for the upcoming Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD media formats. The demo will be presented in 1080p and will use clips from different DTS-HD Master Audio is also compatible with existing equipment and can deliver a significant increase in sound quality when consumers play the next-generation discs and players through their current A/V equipment, says the company. DTS-HD Master Audio is expected to launch in a variety of the new high definition players and A/V receivers planned for introduction throughout 2006 from major manufacturers. HD Radio technology radically upgrades sound quality and provides new wireless data services, while allowing digital broadcasts to be transmitted over existing AM/FM radio bands. Boston Acoustics says the new radio gets rid of the static, hiss, pops, and fades. The radio also provides extra content, such as station call letters, song titles, artist names and additional text. There are no subscription fees and the radio retails for $499.
