Integrate 2016 in Australia Is Now Totally A Global EventWe brought our rAVe NOW service down-under last week to help bring the Australian-based ProAV & HomeAV show to the rest of the world! While the previous seven events have been totally focused on just the Australian and New Zealand markets, we were asked to attend to help make Integrate 2016 a global event. And, the timing could’t have been more perfect. All our coverage of the show is here.
In fact, LG picked Integrate for their “official” global launch of the new wall-paper displays. Sure, they’ve been shows in sneak-previews at a few other events, but Integrate was the very first time that anyone saw their new TWO-SIDED (yes, you read that right) wall-paper display. As thin as the poster-board you used for primary school class projects, the two-sided display was front and center at Integrate and our video of it has already garnered over 11,000 views on Facebook and our website, combined.
In addition to shooting over 400 videos from eh show floor, we took over 350 photos and posted news and blogs from the show that included many of the new products launched.
All our coverage is available for everyone to see here. Leave a Comment

But, this year’s event marked the global debut of the show through our rAVe NOW service and also because a few big manufacturers choose Integrate as the platform for their worldwide new product launches.
With that in mind, here are 12 videos we shot at Integrate that you shouldn’t miss:

My Integrate 2016 Wrap-up Interview with Soren NorgaardSoren is all smiles as I caught up with him just as the three-day Integrate 2016 show ended and it was clear that this year’s event likely broke all records and expectations for measured success. On Day 1, the set an attendance record, on Day 2 Integrate saw the worldwide launch of LG’s new two-sided paper-thin OLED wall-paper displays and Day 3 put a star on Integrate as the industry’s first AV-over-IP show with at least 10 AV-over-IP product launches that carry 4K video over the network. I hope you enjoy my wrap-up interview with Soren.Leave a Comment

New Crestron DM Finally Supports Dante Audio Networking Crestron announced today that DigitalMedia now supports the Dante audio networking protocol with its new input and output blades for 64×64 and 128×128 DM matrix switchers. Now shipping, the 4K HDMI (4:2:0) and Dante Input Blade for DM Switchers (DMB-4K-I-HD-DNT) provides eight HDMI inputs, while the 4K HDMI and Dante Output Blade for DM Switchers (DMB-4K-O-HD-DNT) provides eight HDMI outputs with built-in 4K scaling. CEC embedded device control is possible with the addition of a control system.
Dante is the preferred industry networking protocol for transmitting HD audio over Ethernet, adopted by more pro audio AV manufacturers than any other networking technology.
A common application is for use with video conference systems. Send content from a source, a laptop for example, and connect it to the HDMI port of the DMB-4K-I-HD-DNT; internal processing extracts the HD audio and outputs as Dante over Ethernet through the LAN port on the DM CPU blade. The audio is then sent to a local DSP in a conference room, which mixes the program audio with the microphones. The mixed audio is then sent out to a codec.
Analog audio inputs and outputs are enabled by connecting the optional Analog Audio Breakout Box (AUD-BOB-1602) to the Dante blades in the DM switcher.

Extron Announces New HDMI Cable Equalizer for 4K/60 Sources Extron just introduced the HD 4K 101 Plus, an HDMI cable equalizer supporting video signals at resolutions up to 4K/60 with 4:4:4 chroma sampling. Used at the destination end of a long cable run, the HD 4K 101 Plus actively equalizes poor or marginal source signals, reduces jitter and skew, and adds output pre-emphasis to reliably extend the HDMI signal. The HDCP 2.2-compliant equalizer supports HDMI 2.0b specification features, including data rates up to 18 Gbps, HDR, Deep Color up to 12-bit, 3D, HD lossless audio formats and CEC. To streamline integration, the 1/8 rack wide unit can be powered by the connected HDMI source or an optional external power supply.
The HD 4K 101 Plus compensates for poor HDMI source signals and low-quality cabling. It can be used in conjunction with products such as the Extron HD 4K 110 Series to provide a cost effective solution for extending 4K video signals between the source and the display. DDC channels are actively buffered, allowing pass-through of EDID and HDCP information between source and display. EDID pass-through ensures that the source video is at the optimal resolution for the display, and HDCP 2.2 compliance enables extension of encrypted content from Blu-ray players, satellite and cable TV tuners, DVRs, laptop computers, and other HDCP-enabled sources. These capabilities and other features such as a compact enclosure and ability to be powered by the source device make the HD 4K 101 Plus an indispensable addition to AV designs and existing systems with 4K video requirements.

Integrating SIP Based Phone Systems with Paging and IntercomIntercom and paging systems over IP have come a long way, and Barix has long been a leader in providing products and solutions to make it all happen.
The requirement for seamless integration of paging an intercom systems with IP based telephone system (VoIP Systems) based on the session initiation protocol SIP) continues to grow. Schools, corporate facilities, transportation-related infrastructure and even residential telephone installations want to use their phone systems to make a public announcements and door stations to call directly into the telephone system, using call forwarding and more. Barix supports these transitions with solutions built on its cost-effective Exstreamer and Annuncicom devices.
Thanks to the Barix SIP client firmware, Barix devices address the integration seamlessly. When connected to a loudspeaker system, the Barix Exstreamer provides a SIP-based PA solution. Alternatively, a Barix Annunciom device provides a two-way intercom into the telephone system via a connected microphone.
The Barix SIP Client works with a wide range of SIP bases telephone systems. And, an application note, available for download from the Barix website, explains how to use BARIX SIP Client with Cisco Unified Call Manager.
One challenge with IP-based telephone systems is that the telephone switch is no longer a dedicated device with an analog input for background music and MoH content. After all, the IP-based telephone PBX is just software (such as Cisco’s Unified Communications Manager) and an Ethernet switch.
Barix provides a solution to solve this problem. The Barix Instreamer is the perfect device to feed existing analog audio feeds into a VoIP system.
Find the application note “How to set Barix Instreamer as MoH source for Cisco Unified Call Manager” here. Leave a Comment

For all you REGULAR readers of rAVe ProAV Edition out there, hopefully you enjoyed another opinion-packed issue!
For those of you NEW to rAVe, you just read how we are — we are 100 percent opinionated. We not only report the news and new product stories of the ProAV industry, but we stuff the articles full of our opinions. That may include (but is not limited to) whether or not the product is even worth looking at, challenging the manufacturers on their specifications, calling a marketing-spec bluff and suggesting ways integrators market their products better. Traditional trade publications get paid to run product stories — that’s why you see what you see in most of the pubs out there.
