Is your integration team better than the one you contract to do your integration?
I am often asked to be the keynote speaker at technology events and shows around the world and this subject comes up a lot. Usually, it’s the AV or IT director of a large university (or corporation) and they’re complaining that the only reason they use AV integrators to install their AV is that they have to — in other words, the manufacturers won’t sell direct to them. So, they go through the purchasing process to acquire all the gear but, in many cases, they just install it themselves.
If this is you, you’re in luck as 2019 will see a wave of manufacturers making it easier for you to buy “direct.” Or, at the very least, let you buy through IT and AV distribution channels. As you can imagine, this is going to be a controversial move on the part of the manufacturers, but as the market grows and the need for IT expertise moves from a desire to a requirement, manufacturers are frustrated that the AV channel isn’t becoming IT enough, quick enough. So, they’re all looking to expand their distribution channels. And, they will.
