Behind the Stand at ISE 2025: An Interview With Appspace’s Pete Schmied
THIS IS A PROMOTED POST
Welcome to this series highlighting some of the manufacturers and brands that will be featured on the show floor at ISE 2025. As we gear up for the event, we wanted to share a preview of what these companies are bringing to the table — from new products to insights about their focus for the show. These conversations offer a closer look at what you can expect and a chance to get to know the people behind the brands before the doors open in Barcelona. This interview is with Appspace’s Pete Schmied, president.
Q: Why is Appspace exhibiting at ISE this year?
A: Our team says that attending ISE has nothing to do with the amazing wine and food in Barcelona — but let’s be honest, it’s a pretty great perk. That aside, the real reason Appspace is here is far more important: to connect with the AV leaders shaping the future of work.
The workplace is at a critical juncture. With return-to-office mandates now fully in place, 2025 marks a shift from planning and piloting hybrid strategies to delivering fully realized workplaces to which employees want to return. A recent Gartner report emphasized that these spaces must do more than function—they must inspire, connect, and motivate. And we hear this from our customers every day.
That’s why we’re attending ISE again this year. ISE provides the perfect opportunity to connect with AV leaders instrumental in shaping these next-generation workplaces.
At Appspace, we understand the challenge: organizations need solutions that seamlessly bring people, technology, and communication. From digital signage that informs and inspires to tools that connect hybrid teams, we’re here to help workplaces transform into destinations employees and leaders genuinely value.
But ISE isn’t just about showcasing what we do. It’s about listening, learning, and engaging with the AV community to ensure we remain at the forefront of workplace innovation. The insights we gain and the connections we make here fuel our ability to support our customers and partners in this critical moment of change.
Workplaces are no longer just about where work happens — they’re central to organizational culture, employee engagement, and business success. We’re here to help AV leaders deliver on this vision and make the workplace a destination, not a mandate.
Q: What trends do you think we’ll see on the show floor, and how is your company positioned to capitalize on these opportunities?
A: If I had to predict the buzzwords flying around the ISE show floor this year, artificial intelligence and sustainability would immediately come to mind. We get it – both are reshaping how global organizations think about the workplace and the technology supporting it.
AI has gone from being a futuristic concept to something deeply embedded in our day-to-day lives. We see this on both the consumer and workplace side. At ISE, I expect to see its influence everywhere. For Appspace, AI is already a game-changer. Our expanded integration with Microsoft Copilot showcases how AI can simplify the workplace experience. Whether booking a room, generating personalized content, or improving search, AI lets us meet employees where they are—within the tools they already use. Workplace technology isn’t just about efficiency; it’s about delivering the seamless, consumer-like experiences employees now expect. Nobody in the industry is incorporating AI the way we are, and we’ll be previewing this innovation at the show.
The other key trend is sustainability. It’s no longer optional—it’s a mandate. Employees, customers, and shareholders alike hold organizations accountable for their environmental impact. This focus aligns with one of our key strengths at Appspace: helping workplaces optimize their spaces. Integrating with smart occupancy sensors provides real-time data on how organizations use spaces, enabling them to reduce energy waste and make better decisions about their respective office footprints.
At its core, ISE showcases the possibilities of AV technology to address the most pressing workplace challenges. Appspace sits at the intersection of these trends, enabling organizations to use AI and address sustainability not as buzzwords but as actionable strategies that drive engagement, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
As we walk the show floor, we’ll see these ideas come to life in ways that inspire innovation, and we’re excited to be part of that conversation.

Q: What new products or solutions are you showcasing at ISE and how do they address current industry challenges?
A: At ISE, we’re showcasing our integration with Microsoft Teams Rooms, which transforms meeting spaces into dynamic hubs for communication and engagement. With this integration, idle Teams Rooms devices can display more than just a static calendar—they become vibrant platforms for sharing digital signage, company updates, and alerts. We are the only workplace experience platform to have this integration.
As hybrid work continues to change, the demand for collaboration tools that go beyond meetings is growing. Our solution enables organizations to deliver consistent messaging across every collaboration space, ensuring employees and visitors are informed and engaged, no matter where they are.
We’re also highlighting how our platform simplifies digital signage management, making it easier than ever for organizations to deploy and maintain engaging content across multiple locations. By combining AI with digital signage, Appspace enables organizations to deliver personalized, relevant content that drives collaboration and builds a sense of community in the workplace.
These innovations address today’s key workplace challenges: keeping team members engaged wherever they work, empowering AV teams with efficient tools, and ensuring workplace communication is easy, impactful, and, most importantly, connected to the broader organizational mission.
Q: How is your company expanding its global presence besides exhibiting at ISE 2025?
A: At Appspace, we’ve always embraced a global mindset—our hybrid and fully remote policies were in place long before they became mainstream, enabling us to build a diverse team across the U.S., UK, Portugal, Malaysia, Canada, Spain, and beyond. With a CEO based in Tampa, a chief innovation officer based in Costa Rica, and a CMO in Canada, we know firsthand the value of being globally connected.
Our global presence isn’t just about where we work; it’s reflected in how we grow. Backed by a leading private equity firm with $21 billion in committed capital, Appspace has the resources to invest in strategic initiatives like expansion, acquisitions, and operational improvements. This stability supports a growing customer base of more than 160 Fortune 500 companies, many of which work across geographically dispersed offices.
We’re also strengthening our global footprint through partnerships with industry leaders like Microsoft, Google, and Cisco. These collaborations enhance our ability to deliver solutions that address the evolving needs of organizations worldwide, from digital signage to AI-driven workplace experiences.
Our mission is to be the go-to platform for creating connected, collaborative workplaces worldwide. From partnering with customers globally to growing our team and strengthening strategic alliances, we’re dedicated to empowering organizations to thrive in today’s evolving workplace landscape.
Q: Why should ISE 2025 attendees visit your booth?
A: Word on the street is that Appspace has the best tchotchkes and candy in the history of ISE, so that’s reason enough to swing by our booth (2Q305 in Hall 2)! Oh, and did I mention Appspace walked away with a “Best in Show” award for digital signage last year? That means there likely will be some new, award-worthy technology attendees won’t want to miss.
But seriously, ISE 2025 attendees should meet us up close and personal to see how our platform transforms workplaces into connected, collaborative, and engaging environments. We’re the only ones bringing a complete workplace experience platform to the table, and I challenge attendees to find another exhibitor who can meet their needs quite like Appspace. Stop by and allow us to demonstrate how we empower global organizations and their AV teams to elevate their workplaces.
Q: Anything else you’d like to add?
A: Despite our remote and hybrid work structure, we have a ‘press the flesh’ mindset and understand the importance of in-person connections. We’re always looking to learn more about the challenges organizations face today. While we talk to our global customers daily and stay tuned into the evolving workplace landscape, we know new challenges are constantly emerging. In-person connections and face-to-face meetings still matter—they give us a unique opportunity to have honest conversations and understand an organization’s needs firsthand.
We want to meet ISE 2025 attendees, hear about their experiences, and learn how we can work together to create better, more connected workplaces.
