Collaboration – the Final Frontier. Wait no, that was space, and there were probably robots involved. In the AV industry there is much talk about the telepresence robot, you know, that rolling head on a stand that borders on sci-fi. But that’s not what we’re talking about here.

We’re talking about space and robots here with a young mechanical engineering student, Taylor Meyer (who just finished her freshman year at Iowa State University) on a special call-in to the show. Taylor and her project – look up #StudentAstronaut on Twitter and Facebook – were introduced by Hailey Klein of PSNI to many AV industry people, including all of the AV Power Up Crew, on social media and we were asked to like and share the video she created (which we did). In fact, we were so impressed, we asked Taylor to call-in to talk with us (thank you Hailey for helping out!), and you’ll hear that call at the start of the show. A truly special discussion on her passion for technology, especially robots, made extra special by the fact that Taylor had the opportunity to talk with Victoria who herself just recently graduated from Columbia College. Taylor’s been invited back to be on the show in the fall – we can’t wait.

We begin with our guests talking with Linda about UCC, the Microsoft Surface Hub and all that is happening at AVI-SPL. We also talk about some of their partnerships (a big announcement was made with Bluescape this week) as well as some of the things that will be taking place at InfoComm with the company. And what about infopresence? That was the discussion with Michael Brown as we talked about Mezzanine, their visual collaboration immersive workspace solution (think Minority Report). Michael also talked with us about what they will be doing at InfoComm.

Chris Bledsoe tells us about “touching the data” with Bluescape, their visual collaboration solution. Chris also talks about the partnership announcement with AVI-SPL as well as their goings-on at InfoComm. And Tom Jones, well what can we say – the only guy in the industry who gets it done in the field for one of the industry’s largest AV and IT distributors, and still finds time for the Vegas act (catch him at InfoComm – at the Ingram Micro booth that is).
