TechLogix Tackles Hi-Speed and SuperSpeed USB Extension

Madison, WI – USB-based devices are notoriously hard to extend. The USB specification limits maximum cable lengths to 5 meters (about 16 feet 5 inches), which leaves many applications searching for an extension solution.

Hi-Speed (USB 2.0) and SuperSpeed (USB 3.0) cameras in particular often are left short in collaborative spaces, especially considering huddle rooms, meeting rooms, classrooms and lecture spaces are increasingly integrating cameras for recording and remote conferencing.

TechLogix Networx tackled the issue with their new line of USB over fiber extenders, including solutions for Hi-Speed (USB 2.0) and SuperSpeed (USB 3.0) extension up to 500 meters (1,640 feet).

An innovator in fiber optic technology, TechLogix captured industry attention last year with their debut of several 4K HDMI and control over fiber solutions. Now they’re focusing on USB.

“Fiber is an ideal transport medium,” explains Cameron Smith, TechLogix CEO. “It’s immune to electromagnetic and RF interference, and it supports an incredible amount of bandwidth.”

TechLogix’s initial debut includes two part numbers: the TL-FO-USB2-01 which transmits 480 Mbps USB 2.0 signals up to 500 meters over multimode fiber, and the TL-FO-USB3-01 which transmits 5 Gbps USB 3.0 up to 100 meters over multimode fiber.

Both products incorporate built-in USB hubs for connection versatility (a four port on the USB2-01 and a two port on the USB3-01), rugged enclosures, and international-compliant power supplies.
