Rubie’s Costume Company and Last Mile Retail Select Videotel’s VP71S5 Solution for Interactive Retail Display

phpQsGxmLPMRichmond Hill, New York October 28, 2014 — Rubie’s Costume Company worked with technology consultant firm Last Mile Retail, which recommended Videotel’s VP71 industrial media players combined with Videotel’s new Inter-play Module to create an outstanding responsive retail in-store display system.
Rubie’s Costume Company, Inc. in Richmond Hill, New York, designs, manufactures and distributes costumes and accessories for Halloween, Christmas and other special occasions. It has the coolest stuff for adults, kids, teens, infants and even pets! In addition to fantastic original designs, Rubie’s has costumes based on the most popular characters from major Hollywood movies. Besides distributing to stores and retail chains globally, Rubie’s operates a 30,000 square foot warehouse store. The company needed a solution for interactive retail displays, so they called on Last Mile for help. Last Mile is a NYC-based consulting firm that specializes in helping retail operations implement the newest technology.
“When putting together the design for Rubie’s interactive retail displays, we considered a number of software and hardware options, but none were nearly as elegant, versatile or cost-effective as the Videotel solution. Not only did they offer a superior solution, but also as a partner, Videotel was an absolute pleasure to work with — true professionals in every sense of the word. We are very proud of how the installation turned out and would unequivocally recommend Videotel as a vendor and partner,” says Michael Carini, co-founder and CEO of Last Mile.
The Videotel solution for Rubie’s is an Interactive Digital Signage system to support 18 LCD screens. Content delivery is by Videotel’s VP71 industrial media players with motion sensors controlled by Videotel’s new Inter-play Module (IPM), which automatically triggers the playback of specific content about Rubie’s costumes and accessories. The motion sensors activate unique content when a customer walks down each aisle. Optional activator buttons and Videotel’s exclusive “wave to play” devices for the IPM are also available. The IPM is the perfect complement for interactive digital signage in the retail environment.
“Videotel is very excited to introduce the new Inter-play Module to the industry,” said Lisa Schneider, vice president of business development and market strategy. “By offering your audience the ability to trigger preferred content within a playlist, we believe the interactive experience is beneficial in any vertical market, including retail, hospitality, healthcare, government agencies and others.”
“Videotel’s products really are of the highest quality and fit our needs perfectly. We’re also thrilled with the signage expertise, expedited turnaround time and overall experience Videotel was able to offer,” said John Clausen, General Manager of Rubie’s Costume Company, Inc. ”
