RTI Introduces New Driver for Nest Products

rti-logoSHAKOPEE, Minn. — Sept. 11, 2014 — Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) today announced the availability of a new two-way driver for Nest products. Available at no cost to RTI dealers, the driver allows homeowners to control and monitor the beautifully designed Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Protect: Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarm — providing seamless integration with these popular devices.

Developed by RTI through the Nest Developer Program, the two-way driver allows users to easily adjust the target temperature of the Nest Thermostat directly from their RTI devices. Users can also benefit from more integrated features such as temperature-based ceiling fan control and the ability to alert Nest when the user is home so the thermostat can come out of Away mode without the user having to walk past the thermostat. Additionally, the driver can monitor some functions of the Nest Protect: Smoke + Carbon Monoxide alarm, including multiple alarm statuses, battery power, and power levels.

“We are excited to release our driver and integration with Nest,” said Pete Baker, vice president of sales and marketing, RTI. “Our dealers now have the ability to incorporate Nest products into an RTI control system, providing consumers with convenient access through the award-winning wired, wireless, and app-based user interfaces from RTI.”

The Nest Learning Thermostat remembers what temperatures users like, creates a custom schedule for the home, and turns itself down when everyone is away to help save energy. The Nest Protect: Smoke + Carbon Monoxide alarm tells users what the problem is and where it is. It also alerts their phone when the alarm goes off or its batteries run low. Users can check on things at any time with the Nest app.

The RTI Nest two-way driver is available now on RTI’s website at www.rticorp.com in the Driver Store.
