Rental/Production Firm Iluminacion Jaime Dussan Brings Joy to Thousands at Rock al Parque 2018

Framingham, MA, September 27, 2018 – The 24th edition of the highly popular music festival Rock al Parque recently took place, from August 18 – 20, at the Simon Bolivar Metropolitan Park in Bogotá, Colombia. One of the most prominent free festivals in Latin America, it’s organized by the Bogotá City Hall and the District Arts Institute (IDARTES) and is an inclusive gathering point for a diverse selection of music from all over the world. Colombian AV rental and production company Iluminacion Jaime Dussan, responsible for all audiovisual services at Rock al Parque 2018, used its Bose Professional ShowMatch DeltaQ line array loudspeaker system to deliver high quality sound at the Lago Stage, serving audiences of up to 15,000 concert-goers.

The Lago Stage hosted 18 different bands, each representing the best of their field, in such diverse genres as metal, ska, hard rock, acid jazz and reggae. Satisfying the demands of this wide array of artists and their sound engineers was an important challenge for both Iluminacion Jaime Dussan and its partners P.A. Sound Colombia, whose technical crews oversaw the operations for this stage.

Pablo Mateus, Chief Engineer for P.A. Sound Colombia, was responsible for the system’s performance at the festival. “Every new edition of Rock al Parque is a huge endeavor, but we were pretty confident of ShowMatch during the installation,” he noted. “I think it was the right choice; we delivered well-defined sound to bands that weren’t really that easy to mix or who played not-so-easily distinguishable music.”

The system deployment included two main ShowMatch DeltaQ arrays, with 17 modules each, one at each side of the stage, with six SM20’s as front fills. 32 SMS118 subwoofers were also added – 16 on the floor in front of the stage and another 16 suspended with the main full-range arrays. 60 meters (200 feet) away from the stage, a delay system (of two line arrays with seven modules each) was set on scaffold towers. The entire system was controlled by a Bose ControlSpace processor, Dante™ Controller software and Powersoft’s Armonía software to manage the system’s EQ and amplifier channel levels.

Engineer Juan Camilo Fernandez, who helped the teams of P.A. Sound and Iluminacion Jaime Dussan during the system’s design and setup, noted “This configuration is the result of several sound tests where we tried to find the best possible setup for the system. We’ve worked with ShowMatch in many concerts and festivals in the last few months and it’s always been up to the task. At Rock al Parque, ShowMatch was pushed to the limit, handling very high levels of sound pressure, but the end result was excellent – always above the noise of the crowd and with good, full dynamic range.”

The Festivales al Parque series of concerts has three more events scheduled for 2018: Jazz al Parque, Hip-Hop al Parque and Salsa al Parque – three more opportunities for the teams of Iluminacion Jaime Dussan and P.A. Sound Colombia to take the ShowMatch DeltaQ system to whole new levels and to keep pushing the boundaries of coverage, intelligibility, sound pressure and clarity. Pablo Mateus from P.A. Sound Colombia remarks, “Our role is to support and assist the engineers from each band, check the details, levels and the performance of every single instrument in use. Making sure the audience is getting great sound as a nice final product is definitely a medal we can proudly wear.”
